One of the best things I have ever done to improve the quality of my life is to spend time on personal development.
I started reading books (and continue to do this every day), listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos, and attending seminars/conferences.
The change in my life has been so profound that I now have a deep passion to help others change their lives through personal development (and also why I became a certified life coach) too.
One author who I turn to frequently is Mel Robbins.
What I really love about her is how open she is about her struggles…how she overcame anxiety, self-sabotage, self-loathing, perfectionism, and people-pleasing to drastically improve the quality of her life.
Her books, podcast episodes, YouTube videos, and Instagram posts are full of practical, easy-to-apply steps that you can use to change the habits that are keeping you stuck and sucking the joy from your life.
Here is a list of the books I have read and recommend (linked to Amazon–not an affiliate):
- The High 5 Habit: Take Control of Your Life With One Simple Habit (her most recent release)
- The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work, and Confidence With Every Day Courage
- Take Control of Your Life: How to Silence Fear and Win the Mental Game (this is an Audible audiobook)
- Kick Ass with Mel Robbins: Life Changing Advice From the Author of The 5 Second Rule (this is also an Audible audiobook)
- Here’s Exactly What To Do: Simple Tools for a Happier You (a podcast on Audible)
- YouTube (she has a very popular TEDx talk called: How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over
If you are looking for a place to start with your personal development or you are looking for your next read and are not already familiar with Mel Robbins, I highly recommend you check her out!
