I woke up this morning achy and frustrated.
I haven’t worked out since the last week of August (we’ve been traveling with my husband’s father in Maine), I haven’t kept up with my gratitude practice or my mindset work (it felt awkward to do that with my father-in-law sleeping in my workspace! LOL!), and my food has been off track.
I sat at the table ready to give in to my victim mindset when I read this quote in my notebook (I always take notes when I do my personal development work):
Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you want to become.
Boom! 🎤
The thing that I think we forget, or maybe was never taught, is that we get to CHOOSE who we want to be.
We are not predestined by DNA to BE anything.
Who we ARE is a choice we make. We DECIDE who we want to be and then we take the ACTION steps to BE that person.
Do I want to be a quitter? Do I want to be someone with an achy body? Do I want to be unhealthy? Do I want to be down in the dumps?
No.
I want to be a healthy human. I want to nourish and nurture my mind and body. I want to flourish and thrive. I want to be inspiring and uplifting. I want to be someone who loves herself and prioritizes herself. I want to be ever evolving into the highest version of myself.
So I chose to get up from the table, change into my workout clothes, and do the dang workout.
It’s not the grand, sweeping gestures that make up our lives, that create who we are.
It’s the small, seemingly minuscule and mundane actions we take every.single.day that create the fabric of our lives.
